The new special edition features a combination of arc cut topazes, diamonds, mother-of-pearl and fox fur, all combined in a quintessential Roman style.

The term “peacocking” is usually used to refer to some form of ostentatious display. Of course, the actual peacock is great at peacocking - hence the name - and the males use the tactic of fanning their beautiful tails to find a mate.

The watchmaking equivalent of peacocking might just be Fendi and the new My Way special edition series of watches. Except in this case, it’s the ladies that are doing all the peacocking, in a fine display of the brand’s DNA which can be defined by what can only be called eccentric luxury.

At the center of each watch we have green or blue mother of pearl circled by white diamonds, including three diamond indexes. But despite all of the precious stones and fine finishing, the showstopper here is really the “Glamy”, the aptly named removable accessory that accompanies the watch. The Arctic fox fur collar is a great example of of peacocking, a way to flaunt femininity, perhaps during an evening out.

The watch can also be worn unadorned, without the Glamy, which might be more fitting during business hours. Presented this way helps to reveal the diamond-set case whose curved lines have been inspired by ancient Roman amphitheaters.

The pop of colour then comes from the refined green or blue calfskin leather strap, and the flash comes from the bezel set with arch-cut topazes.

As expected from the brand with Roman roots, the new additions to the My Way collections are a strong, colourful and very charismatic. But don’t be deceived by all the bold colours and unique shapes. Each watch is indeed impeccably executed to the last and smallest detail.

And I would expect no less from the brand started by the five Fendi sisters. These creations are true to the Roman spirit and while there is certainly peacocking going on, you can be sure that every feather is exactly in its place, prim and proper.
