The Swiss watchmaker has released a new, elegant limited edition of the FIABA Valentine, featuring a ‘water drop’ guilloche dial and a slimline case.

Valentine’s Day has a way of creeping up on me every year. Before I know it, I’m scrambling to find a thoughtful, last minute gift for my significant other - surely I’m not alone in that challenge each year.

That’s why I can appreciate the proactive approach to gift giving, and thankfully, we can always rely on the Swiss brands to help out the absent-minded types among us with some early notices.

Maurice Lacroix is among those ahead of the curve with the FIABA Valentine, an elegant ladies’ timepiece that has been released with plenty of time to spare before Valentine’s Day.

What’s immediately noticeable about the watch is the fashionable and glamorous look to it. The slender profile and smooth curves of the 32mm stainless steel and rose gold PVD case add to the effect, as does the red spinel on the crown.

The design motif on the dial is equally elegant. Concentric circles of a ‘water drop’ guilloche pattern define the dial of the watch, with a discreet date display at 3 o’clock. For the remaining hour markers we have 11 natural polished diamonds, meant to emulate the sun kissing the surface of water.

Adding a bit of nuance to the dial and matching the bezel are the rose gold plated leaf-shaped hands, powered by a quartz movement at the heart of the timepiece.

In line with the love motif, the watch is paired with the brand’s Premium Silk burgundy strap, complete with the recognizable M logo of the Swiss watchmaker. Each watch comes packaged in a nice presentation box fit for the romantic occasion.

Priced at USD $1,250, this new watch is well within Maurice Lacroix’s overall strategy of positioning itself in the $1,000-5,000 price range.

And while there’s still plenty of time before Valentine’s Day, I reckon it’s better to act fast because the FIABA Valentine has been released in a limited edition of only 300 pieces.
