Homage to discretion

July 2005

During the current ‘tourbillon’ frenzy, when many brands are blatantly competing with one another, offering one, two or even three tourbillons, Jaquet Droz has opted for understatement and pays homage to a disappearing virtue: discretion.

Nothing, or nearly nothing, indicates that this watch is not only a tourbillon but also a minute repeater. On the extremely bare slate dial is an opaline silver counter with a large decentred second hand at 9 o’clock. The simple white gold case measures 43 mm in diameter.
It is only by turning over the watch that one discovers, under the transparent sapphire crystal, the Calibre Jaquet Droz 2962 T equipped with a tourbillon with a monometallic balance and auto-compensating Breguet spiral. It has a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 48 hours.
This watch also holds another surprise, revealed to the experienced eye by a discreet slide on the side of the case at 9 ‘clock: a minute repeater with a chime on request with two tones, one low for the hours and the other for the minutes.
It represents the brand’s understated classicism and is emblematic of the current collections offered by Jaquet Droz. In addition to the Tourbillon Minute Repeater, the other models such as the enamelled Petite Heure Minute, Les Lunes, the marine Grande Sonnerie and other Douze Villes timepieces, all propose this same kind of discreet, refined and timeless watchmaking.
