Audemars Piguet's new manufacturing facilities

October 2000

Audemars Piguet: inauguration of the new manufacturing facilites at Le Brassus, Switzerland.

Employing almost 450 people and generating sales approaching CHF140 million, the Audemars Piguet Manufacture needed to provide its employees with tools commensurate with the excellence of their work. A new factory proved the best way of maintaining the growth phase that started a few years ago. The Museum and specialist workshops share the Audemars family house, the manufacturing company's first premises. Administration, technical studios, the after-sales service, communication and marketing are located in the central building. The new manufacturing facilities house the essential elements of watch production.
The opening of the new building gives the Audemars Piguet Manufacture more than 4000 square meters of working area along the main street of the village of Le Brassus.
Initial studies started in 1994. The company commissioned the architects Singer & Porret, designers of the Swiss electronics and micro-technology center (CSME) in Neuchâtel, and the Lausanne engineering office of Bonnard & Gardel.
The specifications of the new building had three objectives: all watchmaking activities to be under a single roof; the optimum movement of people and goods; an environment that promotes creativity, dust-free workshops, well lit and air-conditioned premises, and small work-groups that maintain the company's tradition of craftsmanship.
The modern architecture and fitting-out of the new manufacturing facilities promote the skills of each employee, to perpetuate the tradition of freshness and quality initiated by the company's two founders in 1875.
