Antiquorum to Start Fall Season with Auction in New York

Antiquorum will open its Fall season with an auction of Important Collectors’ Wristwatches & Pocket Watches, featuring 339 diverse timepieces on Wednesday, September 22, at the Grand Havana Room in New York. The auction will feature impressive modern and vintage pieces with some offered at no reserve. Viewings will be held prior to the sale at the Grand Havana Room in Beverly Hills, and in two New York locations: the Tourneau TimeMachine and the Grand Havana Room.

Some highlights of the sale include three rare Patek Philippe wristwatches. An exceptionally fine and very rare Patek Philippe & Cie, Genève, “World Time,” Ref. 1415 HU, 18K pink gold gentleman's wristwatch with an 18K pink gold Patek Philippe buckle is offered. This highly collectible item is listed without a reserve and estimated at US$ 50,000 – 70,000 (¤ 40,000 - 57,000) on auction day.

The second is an extremely fine and rare Patek Philippe & Cie, Genève, Ref. 1463 stainless steel gentleman’s wristwatch, featuring a round button chronograph, register, tachometer and a stainless steel Patek Philippe buckle. This watch has no reserve and is estimated at US$ 80,000 – 100,000 (¤ 65,000 – 80,000).

A Patek Philippe, Genève, Ref. 3970E is the third highlighted watch of this brand and is a very fine and rare, astronomic, 18K pink gold gentleman's wristwatch with a round button chronograph, register, perpetual calendar, moon phases and an 18K pink gold Patek Philippe deployant clasp. As a noteworthy modern collectible timepiece, it is estimated at US$ 40,000 – 50,000 (¤ 32,000 – 40,000).

Demonstrating the diversity and strength of the brands offered in this auction are two modern tourbillon wristwatches from Cartier and Breguet. The first is from Cartier Paris and is an 18K white gold gentleman’s wristwatch from the “Collection Privée – Pasha de Cartier Tourbillon," No. 19/20, produced in a limited edition of 20 examples only in 2000. Extremely fine and rare, it is water-resistant with a visible one-minute tourbillon regulator and an 18K white gold Cartier deployant clasp. The watch is estimated to sell at auction for US$ 80,000 – 100,000 (¤ 65,000 – 80,000).

The second tourbillon is a Breguet "Tourbillon Squelette Perpetual,” Ref. 3755, produced in the 1990s. Expected to fetch US$ 80,000 – 100,000 (¤ 65,000 – 80,000), it is a very fine and rare, large skeletonized, 18K yellow gold gentleman’s wristwatch with a visible one-minute tourbillon regulator, retrograde perpetual calendar and an 18K yellow gold Breguet buckle. To further whet collectors’ interests, the sale will also be offering a Jaeger-LeCoultre, "Tourbillon Reverso, Ref. 270.2.68, produced in a limited edition of 500 examples. Very fine and rare, the rectangular and reversible, 18K pink gold gentleman's wristwatch features a visible one-minute tourbillon regulator and an 18K pink gold Jaeger-LeCoultre deployant clasp. Experts estimate this watch will sell at auction for US$ 20,000 – 30,000 (¤ 16,000 – 24,000).

To round out the strong offerings in this sale are two much sought-after “Paul Newman” Rolex, Cosmograph "Daytona,” Ref. 6239. A highly desirable stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch, it is water-resistant with a round button chronograph, registers, steel bezel with tachometer and a stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet, and is estimated at US$ 35,000 – 45,000 (¤ 28,000 – 36,000).

Also an extremely fine and very rare, astronomic, 18K yellow gold Audemars Piguet, Genève, No. 46931, gentleman's wristwatch with an olive-shaped button chronograph, register, tachometer, triple date, moon phases, produced in 1943 with an 18K yellow gold Audemars Piguet buckle. Owned by and inscribed to Hall of Fame Jockey Ted Atkinson. This watch is offered at no reserve with an estimate of US$ 40,000 - 50,000 (¤ 32,000 – 40,000) on auction day.

Additional highlights include

An extremely fine, rare and important, Patek Philippe, Genève, No. 1906045, case No. 2900786, Ref. 3974. Production of this reference started in 1989 and ceased in 1997. This minute-repeating, astronomic, self-winding, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with perpetual calendar, moon phases. This watch is estimated between US$ 340,000 - 380,000 (¤ 275,000 - 343,000).

Very fine and very rare, astronomic, Patek Philippe, Genève, No. 3045075, case No. 2953542, Ref. 3970/2, 18K white gold and diamond gentleman's wristwatch with perpetual calendar, moon phases, round button chronograph, register. Estimated at US$ 90,000 - 110,000 (¤ 73,000 - 90,000).

Very fine and very rare, tonneau-shaped, astronomic, Rolex, Oyster Perpetual, Officially Certified Chronometer, Ref. 6062., self-winding, water-resistant, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with triple date, moon phases. Estimated to fetch at auction US$ 70,000 - 90,000 (¤ 57,000 - 73,000).
