Busan (Korea), September 29 to October 14, 2002 - The Swiss watchmaker Longines will, together with Tissot, handle the timekeeping of the 14th Asian Games. Through this partnership both Swatch Group companies underline their commitment not only to international sport and timekeeping but also to ensuring a global presence, as the Asian continent represents, economically and in terms of population, one of the leading markets of the world.

The Asian Games are a unique sporting event bringing together peoples from all over Asia. Since they were first held in 1951 in New Delhi (India), the Asian Games have been growing in popularity and reputation, and have become the most important sports event in Asia. The last Asian Games, held in 1998 in Bankok (Thailand), and also sponsored jointly by Longines and Tissot, have attracted a cumulative television audience of over 3 billion viewers worldwide.

At the 14th Asian Games in Busan, Korea, seven thousand athletes from 43 nations will join together to present a celebration of sporting excellence. Competitions will take place in 38 different sporting disciplines. 43 competition venues have been specially prepared to host all competitions.
