PATEK PHILIPPE, REF. 130, ART DECO CHRONOGRAPH, YELLOW GOLD – LOT 342

The extremely rare and fine manual-winding calibre 13-130 is highly appreciated by collectors. The calibres 130 introduced in 1934 were the first chronographs Patek Philippe produced that received a specific reference number.

This round-shaped Art Deco Chronograph from 1938 in 18k Yellow Gold with a minute-recorder, subsidiary seconds at 9, 30-minute recorder 3 o’clock, two-tone silver pulsometric sector dial, snap-on case-back, became one of the most desirable watches in the world.

This model with its case-back engraved in taille-douce (fine cut) with the cypher “L J”, of Lucien Jacoberger (1903-1981) will for sure attract a lot of attention among enthusiasts.

With its 38mm dial considerably larger than other models at the time, it is one of only two Rolex models to boast a moonphase indicator and only steel models feature the lettering “PRECISION” on it.
