A Jewellers Dream, a Buyers Paradise and a Golden Opportunity for the Middle East’s Jewellery Industry at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre

Over 500 companies from 30 countries will gild the halls of the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from 5 to 9 October with the regions largest display of diamond, gem-set, platinum, gold and silver jewellery and luxury watches estimated at a collective value of US$1 billion.
Now in its 13th year, the Middle East’s premier jewellery exhibition is preparing for its most successful edition ever under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister of Bahrain Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Biggest ever event
Jewellery Arabia is the leading showcase for a huge regional market and will fully occupy both hall one and two of the exhibition centre in addition to private salon areas in the newly constructed US$3.1 million conference facility - making it the biggest event ever to be held at the premises.
World famous names add sparkle to an arena of jewellery spanning over 13,000 square metres including Cartier, Chopard, Graff Diamonds, Harry Winston, Patek Phillipe, Piaget and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Wide international support
They will be joined by a host of national pavilions, who will bring a truly international flavour to the exhibition. These official groups; from some of the world’s leading jewellery export nations including Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Korea, Switzerland, Thailand and Turkey, collectively reflect cultural design and style from around the world.
For the first time at Jewellery Arabia there will be an official Brazil pavilion sponsored and coordinated by the Brazilian Institute of Gems and Precious Metals (IBGM). The pavilion will comprise of nine of Brazil’s leading jewellery producers, each showing their collections based on creativity, style and technology which combine to present a unique approach to jewellery conception and production. Brazilian jewellers are making a huge impact on the global stage and have gained strong recognition at the world’s most important jewellery design competitions. A number of leading jewellers have already gained prominence in the Arab World and are now looking to reinforce their connections and presence in the market. The pavilion participants are – Vancox; FR Hueb; Vianna; Denoir; CR Bruner; Fiamma; Seculus; Manoel Bernardes and Manoel Noguetra.

Special features
Ties between Bahrain and Switzerland will furthermore be strengthened with a special presentation of the winning watches of the Grand Prix d'horologie de Geneve 2003 (the Geneva Watch Festival). This will demonstrate the very best in Swiss haute horology and create a link between Geneva, the centre of Switzerland's watch industry and Bahrain which is central to the Gulf's watch and jewellery market.
Swiss quality of a different kind will also be showcased for the first time at Jewellery Arabia by Caran d’Ache, who will exhibit the world’s most expensive pen. La Modernista Diamonds is set with 5,072 diamonds and 96 rubies, and took some six months to produce.

The Middle East’s finest
A strong Lebanese and GCC contingent drawn from the region’s most exclusive jewellers compliment this international line up including Al Mahmood Pearls, Chaar, Damas, Devji Jewellers, Georges Hakim, Hanna Freres, Mahallati and Samra.

Also amongst them are Bahrain’s leading jewellers - Bahrain Jewellery Centre, Taqi’s Jewellery and Asia Jewellers - who will be bringing together stunning collections of famous international brands in boutique formats.

Retail packaging, merchandising material and jewellery manufacturing machinery and technology will also play an important part in the exhibition.

Last year’s show attracted a record total of 25,178 jewellery trade buyers and private collectors. This figure marks a 15% increase in visitors over the 2002 event. Of the total number, 5797 visitors (23%) were drawn from the region’s single largest jewellery market - Saudi Arabia, with significant support also coming from Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and the UAE.

Addressing the press at the official opening of the exhibition, President of Piaget International Yves Piaget said that, “Jewellery Arabia is the world’s most important jewellery event after Basel and JCK.”

US$30 billion market
It is estimated that the Arab’s passion for fine jewellery has created the world’s largest and most dynamic jewellery market worth in excess of US$30 billion a year, with demand ranging from simple gold designs for everyday wear through to exclusive and customised pieces for social and festive occasions.

Jewellery Arabia’s continued expansion in participant numbers, visitor attendance and quality merchandise, as well as its innovative approach in line with market trends are testimony to the exhibition’s significance as the international jewellery showcase for the region.

The Jewellery Arabia series of exhibitions is organised by Arabian Exhibition Management in Bahrain in association with London based Overseas Exhibition Services, both members of Allworld Exhibitions.

Jewellery Arabia 2004 will open from 16.00 to 22.00 each day for jewellery manufacturers, importers, wholesalers, traders and retailers as well as private investors and collectors by invitation only. An exclusive ladies only morning will be held on Thursday 7 October from 10.00 to 13.00.
