Nicolas Hayek's new 1,2 million SFr. Breguet pocket watch

May 2001

Geneva, May 7th 2001 - It was estimated at 600.000 SFr. At Antiquorum's recent auction, it was finally snatched away for 1,2 million SFr. by Nicolas Hayek himeself, and it will adorn the museum Swatch's boss is about to create.
“It” is a Breguet pocket watch manufactured between 1787 and 1792, initially sold to the Comte Journiac Saint-MÉdar for 3600 gold francs, a fortune at that time.
The watch is “perpetual”, automatic, gives the lunar phases and age and indicates the power-reserve. A very special watch, it will join outstanding items such as timepieces by Omega, Longines, Blancpain, for the enjoyment of the Geneva public... should Nicolas Hayek find an adequate place in Geneva where to host the museum.
