Chronext welcomes ex-Richemont Norbert Platt as Advisor

After passing the 100 million euro turnover mark for the first time in 2020, the watch trading platform keeps bolstering its industry credentials as it announces that Richemont ex-CEO Norbert Platt will advise its Board of Directors. This announcement follows the recent appointments of Jacob Fonnesbech Aqraou, a former eBay executive, and and Hamdi Chatti, former head of Louis Vuitton watchmaking.

leading watch trading platform, Chronext announces that Norbert Platt, Richemont former CEO and Board Member, has been appointed to advise it Board of Directors. In a recent interview, Europa Star already highlighted the new ambitions of Chronext, who has also expanded its board of directors this year by welcoming a new chairman of the board, Jacob Fonnesbech Aqraou, a former eBay executive well connected in Silicon Valley, as well as Hamdi Chatti, a watch industry veteran who has held senior positions at Richemont and headed Louis Vuitton’s Jewellery & Watch division, among others, and who is also a board member of Swiss retailer Gübelin.

Norbert Platt said: “I was attracted to this new role by Chronext’s unique combination of a digital and physical offering, which I view as the business model of the future. I see enormous growth opportunities for a company with ambitions to redefine the market for luxury watches. Norbert Platt is one of the most successful senior executives in the luxury goods industry. He led the Hamburg-based company, Montblanc, as CEO for around 17 years, growing the business from a traditional brand into an internationally recognized player in the luxury goods industry. Following this great success, Norbert Platt was appointed CEO of the Richemont group, holding this position for almost six years and achieving significant sales and revenue growth.

Under his tenure, Richemont’s position as a leading company in the luxury goods industry was consolidated, especially in the luxury watch sector, thanks to internationally renowned brands such as Cartier, IWC, A. Lange & Söhne, Panerai, etc. Most recently, Norbert Platt served as a Board Member and consultant for Richemont.
