October 2006

With a total estimate of CHF 8-11 million ($6.5-9 million), this is one of the most important watch sales ever organised by Sotheby's Geneva. The top lot is a Patek Philippe Chronograph wristwatch, 1927, estimated at CHF 800,000-1,500,000 ($645,000-1,210,000)

This autumn's auction of watches, organised by Sotheby's Geneva, will take place on Thursday 14th November 2006 at 10am and 2pm in the salons of the Beau-Rivage Hotel. The highlight of this new auction is a gold cushion form split seconds chronograph wristwatch made by Patek Philippe in 1927. As Ronny Wooter, in his first sale as Head of the Sotheby's Geneva Watch Department, notes “This wristwatch, estimated at CHF 800,000-1,500,000 ($645,000-1,210,000), is exceptionally rare; Patek Philippe made very few examples at the time of its production.” He adds: “With a total estimate of CHF 8,000,000-11,000,000, this is one of the most important watch sales ever organised by Sotheby's Geneva.” Among the beautiful time pieces offered for sale are examples signed Patek Philippe, Breguet, Cartier, Blancpain, Julius Assmann, Ulysse Breting, Victor Kullberg, Henry Louis Matile, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet. The 331 lots will be exhibited in Geneva from Saturday 11th to Tuesday 14th November 2006.
