Richemont results up by 21%

The Swiss luxury goods group Richemont announced on January 18th, 2001 that its sales for the last quarter of the year 2000 increased by 21%. These results do not take into account the performances of brands Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC and Lange & SÖhne, which Richemont acquired last summer.
According to Johann Rupert, CEO of Richemont, the sales' increase conforms to the Group's expectations.
Sales in Europe grew by 20%, sales in Asisa grew by 25% and on the American continent sales increased by 17%.
In terms of product categories, the watch and jewellery sectors experienced the most important growth: the jewellery sector increased its sales by 26% while the watch sector's increase was 25%.
Luxury watch manufacturers owned by Richemont are Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Baume & Mercier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, A. Lange & SÖhne, Officine Panerai, Piaget and Vacheron Constantin.
